Perinatal Mental Health

Expecting parents/caregivers of young children and the perinatal period

Together we may wonder about your hopes and dreams for you and your little one on the way. We might help prepare you for your transition to parenthood through an exploration of your early attachments. I can share information on how to read your baby’s cues and nurture their bond during the first few months of life. As well, we can attend to your mental health during this perinatal period. We can discuss your protective factors and your risk factors for perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs). Adverse psychological symptoms during the prenatal period can negatively impact the fetus and the early postpartum period is an important time for infant-parent bonding. Therefore, screening for and treating PMADs may be a part of our plan together to ensure the optimal health of you and your baby. Together we can explore what perinatal wellness means for you and create a postpartum wellness plan.
